Exemption

Students who have obtained a credit or higher in the Bahasa Malaysia subject at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level can be exempted from the National Language (A). To apply for exemption, students are required to submit a certified photocopy of their SPM results to the Compulsory Subjects Unit.

Students who have taken the other Compulsory Subjects in their former colleges or universities can also apply for exemption.

The following documents are required to be submitted to the Compulsory Subjects Unit:

a) A photocopy of the transcript certified by the Head of the Compulsory Subjects Unit in the students’ former college/ university

b) A photocopy of the subject syllabus certified by the students’ former college/ university.

According to the requirements of the PHEI Act 1996, the above documents submitted to the Compulsory Subjects Unit will be processed for approval by the third week of each semester. To avoid delay, students are advised to submit their application by the deadline specified. Results of students’ application will determine whether they need to take the subjects or otherwise.
