Self Development Training focuses on developing soft skills in students to help them take care of their social and emotional needs.
The training aims at increasing students’ understanding of self and others as well as equipping them with basic helping skills to help themselves and their peers. This programme trains through lectures, discussions, exercises, and most importantly through role plays.
The MHFA course is an award winning program developed in Australia in 2001. Since April 2005, the MHFA Program has been auspiced by Orygen Research Centre, University of Melbourne. The program has been well evaluated in community settings and the workplace. Feedback received from staff and students at Monash Australia also indicates that those trained feel more confident to communicate with those affected by mental health problems, to encourage them to seek help and to provide assistance.
