International Alumni Summit 2007
Date : 31 August – 2 September 2007
The inaugural International Alumni Summit was held for the first time this year and was attended by alumni representatives from the Australian, Malaysian, Singaporean, Hong Kong and Thailand chapters. Spanning over 3 days, the delegates were given VIP treatment upon arrival at the Melbourne airport. The programme was carefully planned by the Alumni Relations Office in Monash University, Melbourne. All the delegates were put up in a new serviced-apartment hotel, Oaks on Collins, in the city centre.
The introductions began with the Distinguished Alumni Awards 2007 the night before and extended to the first day of the Summit in the Clayton campus. Joined by the Vice President of Advancement, Mr. Ron Fairchild; Divisional Director of Donor, Alumni and Community Relations, Mr. John Kearsey; Director of Alumni Relations, Ms. Leonie Boxtel and the Alumni Relations Managers Ms. Dallas Fisher and Ms. Lim Ching Mei; the summit began on a motivational note. The formal proceedings were facilitated by Ray D’Cruz, a fellow Monash alumnus with his own management consultancy business.
During the three days, much was brought forward and discussed on a global platform. The visions and expectations of all parties were conferred with encouraging feedback from all quarters. It was a very successful summit with the objectives met and most importantly, it instilled a strong relationship between the alumni and their alma mater.
