DAVID BECKHAMs of Monash!

The first ever football match between alumni and students of Monash took place between 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm on 15 May, 2003 at ‘Sports Unlimited’ in Petaling Jaya.  Monash University Malaysia Maniax Football Club initiated a friendly match against football enthusiasts from the alumni community. The Maniax is the official Monash University Malaysia Football Club and has been in operation since year 2000.

Despite the low turnout (only 7 Maniax players and 7 alumni), the game proved to be challenging and enduring for both teams. 

The Alumni team did not respond till the Maniax team was leading, 5-0.  After a bit of warm-up and intimidation, the Alumni team players got into rhythm and made a few good passes and scored a handful of goals. The Maniax team led the first half with 10-7.

During the second half, the Alumni team again found ways in defence and scored. The cheer was however short-lived as the Maniax team came back strongly, netting 5 goals consecutively.

Alas, the Alumni team players lost stamina and pace, so second half of the game ended with the Maniax championing this match at 16-11.
