Medical services
- There are a number of options for students seeking medical assistance in Bandar Sunway.
- The township’s main hospital - Sunway Medical Centre, is a private establishment, situated 15 minutes away (walking distance) from the Sunway campus.
Students who require medical attention may visit the Accident and Emergency unit of the hospital.
- Students are advised to pay upfront and retain all medical receipts/invoices for future insurance claims.
- There are quite a number of medical clinics around Bandar Sunway and they usually operate during office hours. Some of these are 24-hour clinics
Safety
- Malaysia has very strict laws on drug possession and trafficking.
- Bandar Sunway, and the surrounding Subang Jaya area is generally safe, but students are advised to exercise common sense and take safety precautions.
- Driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious offence and breathalyser tests by the police are common.
- Common sense rules of safety apply. Be aware of pickpockets in crowded areas, touts, walk against the direction of traffic, and avoid deserted areas.
Health precautions
- Tap water is generally drinkable but it is advisable to drink bottled water whenever possible.
- Heat exhaustion is rare, but do consume lots of fluids, use a hat and sunscreen.
- Hawker food is popular in Malaysia, but please exercise care in selecting where to eat.
