Just a degree is no longer enough
|

Professor Joern Dosch said the Master of Communications and Media Studies prepares graduates for all sorts of jobs in the media sector.

“If you do have the opportunity and some money in your pocket, you really should think about doing a postgraduate degree. A master will give you an edge,” Director of Advancement Ms Jan Clohessy advised.
At a postgraduate preview session held specifically for existing Sunway campus students, Ms Clohessy told guests that degrees were only a first step.
“Let’s face it. A lot of people have degrees now,” was her sober reminder.
The session previewed three master courses offered by the Sunway campus: the Master of Communications and Media Studies (School of Arts and Social Sciences), the Master of International Business (School of Business), and the Master of Business Information Systems (School of Information Technology) – postgraduate programs that welcome degree holders from any discipline.

Deputy Head of School of Arts and Social Sciences Professor Joern Dosch, speaking of the master program on offer from his School, said that the Master of Communications and Media Studies presented a holistic and multidimensional approach, giving students the right foundation and knowledge they needed in order to work in different sectors of the media industry.
“The degree prepares for all sorts of jobs in the sector,” he said.
Speaking of the Master of International Business, School of Business’ Director of Graduate Studies Dr Yunus Ali said the course prepared graduates to lead.
“Understanding the business environment means you need to understand its political, economic, socio-cultural, technological and legal aspects, which is what this course gives you,” he said.
