The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) acknowledged Monash University Sunway campus for its contribution on three safety videos.

FMM Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Prof Dr James Alfred, in recognising the Sunway campus’ efforts, said that the federation appreciated the effort that had gone in to educate the public on industrial safety and health.

The three videos - “30 Tahun Kemudian (30 Years Later)”, “Bangunlah (Get Up)” and “Dah Nak Sampai (Almost Here)”, was a joint effort by Monash University Sunway campus through its Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment (OHSE) Department, Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC), and School of Arts and Social Sciences, the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM Selangor Branch).

The “Dah Nak Sampai” video also gained international acclaim when it garnered a special award at the International Film and Multimedia Festival held in conjunction with the 19th World Congress on Safety and Health at Work in Istanbul, Turkey, in September.

“We look forward to advancing our co-operation to benefit the Selangor manufacturing community and their workers on the safety and health through a memorandum of understanding,” Tan Sri Alfred told guests at an event held at Monash University Sunway campus.

“Trained manpower is a requirement for foreign investors, and working with Monash would be a benefit to us both,” he said.

The Sunway Campus’ Executive Director Mr Phang Koon Tuck said that the tripartite collaboration between SOCSO, FMM Selangor, and Monash University enabled all parties to come together to work in a collegial atmosphere.

“We look forward to taking this to the next level, which is to further our efforts on workplace safety,” he said, adding that the campus was looking forward to creating opportunities for its students to take on internship programs at FMM Selangor.

“Monash University Sunway campus will always be committed to occupational, safety and health.”
