Monash University Swim Team bags five medals

 The cloudy weather in Nilai on the day did not dampen the spirit of Monash University’s swimming team as the young swimmers did the university proud by bagging a total of five medals at the recent MAPCU-INTI Swimming Competition held at INTI University College.

The winning team consisted of Alvin Ng, Cheng Shu-Fenn, Tan Chen Wei, Chow Kah Wai and Yong Hao Zhi.

Alvin Ng who is also the Vice-President of the Monash Swimming Club clinched the gold medal in the 50 Meter Backstroke Individual event while the others brought home four silver medals in other events.

Dr Teoh Kok Soo, the advisor of the Swimming Club said, “We are very proud of team’s achievement and hope that this will spur more swimmers to compete and bring home more medals.”

“Despite the grey weather, it never bothered the swimmers. Instead, they gave their best and it proved to be a blessing in disguise as it resulted in the winning medals,” he said.
