Monash Representatives to attend the AUIAC Convention

Monash University's Sunway campus will be among those sending representatives to attend the upcoming Australian Universities International Alumni Convention in Singapore from 10 - 13 June 2008.

The bi-annual conference, organised this time by the Australian Alumni Singapore, is themed 'Futuropolis: The Way Ahead Thru Alumni Connections' and will bring together alumni from Australian universities in Asia Pacific and beyond.

Organising Chairperson, Mr Simon Ho said the convention will bring together alumni of Australian universities, tertiary and professional institutions, as well as global partners of the alumni to deliberate on the various issues impacting the world today.

"AUIAC 2008 provides a global forum for the exchange of expert opinions and sharing of significant knowledge and would generate tremendous opportunities for future business networking that would benefit the participants as well as Singapore."

The Chief Minister of Sarawak, Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and Australian Governor General, His Excellency Major General (Rtd) Michael Jeffery, are Joint Patrons of the AUIAC. Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud will also present the Welcome Address at the event.

Monash speakers at the event will include Monash Chancellor, Dr Alan Finkel and Divisional Director for Donor, Alumni and Community Relations, Mr John Kearsey, as well as President of the Monash Alumni Group, Ms Carol Yip.

The President of the Malaysia Australia Alumni Council, Puan Sri Susan Cheah is also among the speakers, as well as senior speakers from Australian, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

A Gala Dinner will also be held, with the Singapore President, SR Nathan as the Guest of Honour.

The event will be held at the Suntec City Convention Centre.
