Major taxation figures to speak at Monash Budget Seminar

Leading Malaysian figures in taxation will again come together at the Monash 2009 Budget Management Seminar on 4 September 2008 to discuss the implications of the Budget announcement later this month.

The one-day event by the School of Business will provide a broad overview of the various new tax provisions and their impact on the business community as well as the public at large.

It has proven to be a good platform for a meeting of minds between Practitioners, Managers, Tax Consultants, Academics and the public to enhance knowledge, facilitate discussion and debate on matters pertaining to the annual Budget announcements.

The seminar will highlight recent case law, tax developments as well as public rulings introduced during the year.

The panel of distinguished tax experts will deliberate on the main tax, commercial as well social implications of the 2009 Budget on the business community.

These experts will provide advice on how businesses can benefit from the tax measures and take advantage of incentives that are available for foreign and local investors.

The business community will also get an opportunity to clear any doubts on the tax changes and gain valuable insights on how firms can leverage on the various planning opportunities offered by the new Budget initiatives.

Speakers will include Director of the Malaysian Business Unit, Professor Jeyapalan Kasipillai, Executive Director of KPMG Tax Services Sdn Bhd; Ms Maslinda Masseri, President, Malaysian Institute of Taxation and Managing Director of TAXAND Malaysia Sdn Bhd; Dr Veerinderjeet Singh, Tax Senior Executive Director and Head of Transfer Pricing & Investigation Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers; Mr SM. Thanneermalai and Mr Lim Kah Fan, Executive Director of Ernst & Young Consultants Sdn Bhd.

Dr Veerinderjeet Singh will also make a presentation titled ‘Tax Reforms, Simplification & Service Delivery’ while Mr SM Thanneermalai will present on ‘Tax Issues Involving Planning for Outbound Investments’.
