Execution (Signing) of Legal Documentation

Please note that the internal units of the campus such as Schools, Administrative Units, departments, institutes, societies and centres do not have independent legal existence. Thus, the contracting party for most cases will be MUSCM which is to be named in the legal document as follows:-

"MONASH UNIVERSITY SUNWAY CAMPUS MALAYSIA SDN. BHD. (Co. No. 458601-U) [as the registered owner of Monash University Sunway Campus Malaysia (Registration No. KP/JPS/DFT/US/B04), a Private University registered under the Private Higher Educational Institutions Act, 1996 (Act 555)] having its business address at Jalan Lagoon Selatan, 46150 Bandar Sunway, Selangor Darul Ehsan"


Who can sign a legal document?


 

1.1 The President (Malaysia) has been empowered by the Board of MUSCM to sign the following documents:-
  • Research grants and collaborations;
  • Scholarship or sponsorship agreements;
  • Consultancy agreements for academicians under the University's "Paid Outside Work" Policy;
  • Mutual non-disclosure agreements;
  • Marketing partner or agent agreements;
  • Software licensing agreements for academic use;
  • Offers of employment.
1.2 The Executive Director ("ED") has been empowered by the Board of MUSCM to sign the following documents:-
  • Lease agreements for land, buildings and other assets in the ordinary running of the business;
  • Sale or disposition of fixed assets;
  • Borrowings;
  • Offers of employment.

Requesting execution (signing) of legal documents

 

Please complete the relevant Sign-off Sheet and forward the same together with the contract, agreement or other legal document to the Campus Solicitor’s Office at Room 2-2-03, Level 2, Building 2.
