Department of Psychology
The academic team teaching psychology at Monash University Malaysia is actively involved in research on a variety of topics. The psychology team has received competitive external grants and all have published in internationally recognised journals and empirical volumes.
The psychology program also features a computerised interactive teaching tool called MyPsych Lab in a number of psychology units. To best achieve the learning goals, numerous modes of assessment such as online quizzes, exams, reports, presentations and lab journals are used to track students’ development in multiple domains.
Besides the Bachelor of Psychological Science, Bachelor of Psychological Science and Business, and Bachelor of Psychological Science and Business (Psychology)(Honours), students may opt to pursue an arts degree with a major in Psychology, offered by the School of Arts and Social Sciences, and a science degree majoring in psychology offered by the School of Science.
The department has also recently introduced the Master of Professional Counselling course that equips students to understand and conduct research in the field of counselling.These skills may be used to pursue further academic research study and enable evidence-based counseling practice.
Ranking and recognition
- Monash University Malaysia has been given Self Accreditation Status by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) through the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
- Both the Bachelor of Psychological Science and Business and Bachelor of Psychological Science and Business (Psychology)(Honours) have been accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council.
- Monash is ranked 51-100th in the world for Psychology by the QS World University Rankings by Subjects (2016).
