Malaysia Australia Colombo Plan Commemoration (MACC) Scholarships

Come and study in tropical Malaysia at Monash University Malaysia, with the support of an MACC Scholarship. This is a new scholarship program building on the spirit of the original 1951 Colombo Plan. It is essentially an aggregation of scholarships offered by Australian institutions for Malaysian students and for the first time, by Malaysian institutions for Australian students. Monash University Malaysia is proud to offer two (2) scholarships (one per semester) to Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia currently enrolled in an undergraduate course at an Australian university.

About the MACC Scholarships (for more information, please visit www.emaac.org)

The Scholarships have been established as part of a wider initiative that was spearheaded and coordinated by the Malaysian Australian Alumni Council (the MAAC), a national organisation for Malaysian Alumni Associations of Australian universities, with the support of the Malaysia-Australia Foundation (MAF), the Australian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, the Australian Department of Education, Training and Youth Affairs through Australian Education International (AEI), and the Australia Malaysia Cultural Foundation (AMF).

This initiative marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Colombo Plan and is underpinned by the following general objectives:

  • To create new education initiatives building on the aspirations and sentiment of the original Colombo Plan;

  • To encourage a two-way flow of scholars between Malaysia and Australia;

  • To promote Australian and Malaysian universities and institutions of higher learning, as well as their scholarships, bursaries, grants, etc; and

  • To enhance and strengthen bilateral ties between Malaysia and Australia.
