MUARC

The mission of the Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC) is to make a difference in road safety and injury prevention policy, practice, and most importantly, outcomes. MUARC conducts high quality research and educational programs that challenge government, industry and citizens to act collectively to eliminate serious health losses due to injury.

It is this research excellence and commitment to the safety of the global population that has made the Centre an acknowledged and respected leader in preventing injuries and injurious events across a range of settings from the road and workplace, as well as the home, school and sporting areas, and acute care rehabilitation. Road safety continues to be at the cornerstone of MUARC’s transportation injury prevention activities.

MUARC has recently established international offices in Malaysia, South Africa and Europe. Dr. Jennie Oxley is the Associate Director of MUARC Malaysia.

With offices in Australia, Europe, Asia and Africa, and successful collaborations with research groups in countries throughout the world, MUARC has a global presence that facilitates multi-site international research partnerships with committed organisations, industries and governments to address key public health challenges.

The key activities for MUARC Malaysia are to develop
  • Collaborative research groups to undertake research projects that aim to achieve improvements in priority injury areas.
  • Research capacity through quality research education and training opportunities.
