Welcome to freshman orientation, 18 - 22 February 2008What is Orientation?Orientation marks the beginning of semester for new students. It’s designed to help you settle into university and provide you with information to fully prepare you for the start of classes. Take the opportunity to find out about the different teaching and learning processes of the university, familiarize yourself with your new surroundings, pick up details about your course and get to know your lecturers and other new students. Orientation is the official start of the university year, so it’s important that you come along. What’s on during Orientation?Orientation consists of both academic and social activities. There are also activities designed to introduce you to the various student support services. Don’t miss the course briefing, library orientation, study skills workshop, and opportunities to meet with lecturers and other staff members. Also, make sure you sign up for a computer account, class tutorials and lab sessions, and complete the Enrolment questionnaire online. Attendance at these activities during Orientation will have a major impact on your studies once classes begin. |
