Important information for international students
Monash University's Sunway campus conducts its business in accordance with the laws and regulations of the government of Malaysia and also in consistency with University and Campus policies, procedures and approved guidelines. The requirements in relation to international students include:

All students
should aim to attend the orientation week. If this week is missed,
important introductory information will be missed and students will be
disadvantaged. No special treatment will be provided to students who
miss orientation or who miss teaching sessions;

If an incoming
student is not available for classes at 9am on the third Monday of the
teaching period, their offer of admission will be cancelled and
government authorities will be notified that the person is not a student
of the University;

Only students who hold a valid student pass will be permitted to enroll
and commence classes.

People who do
not hold a valid MUSC student identification card will not be treated as
a student by campus staff and may be denied entry to the campus;

Student
identification cards will only be issued to students who hold all
necessary governmental permissions to enrol at MUSC. The identification
card validity will not extend beyond the period of governmental
permissions;
- No
international student is to be issued with a Student I.D. card or
admitted into a course of study unless:
- the student has a valid student pass (Please refer to the

- the student has a valid special pass pending the issuance of a
student pass (per directive from the Immigration Department pursuant to
paragraph 2.2 (b) (iii) of the Official Minutes of the discussion held with
the Immigration Department – Ref. No.: KDN(S):100/858/1 KLT.50 (26) dated 29
October 2008, issued under the auspices of the Ministry of Home Affairs,
Malaysia).
- New international students
Students who are enrolling into a program at the Sunway campus from their home country will first need to apply for a Student Pass. The following documents are required by Malaysia Immigration Department for a student pass application:
- 6 passport-size colour photographs (3.5cm x 5cm – Head Size: 2.5cm x 3cm)
- 3 full and clear copies of ALL pages of your passport(s) only on A4 size paper including the blank pages**
- 5 full and clear copies of ALL pages of your passport(s)** (For students from People’s Republic of China ONLY)
** It is highly recommended that the passport be valid for the minimum duration of the course. If the passport is expiring within one year from the time an application is to be accepted, please apply for new passport and submit photocopies of ALL pages of BOTH passports.

- International students who are already studying in Malaysia
For international students transferring to Sunway campus from a different institution in Malaysia: there is an additional requirement to obtain a clearance from the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education prior to applying for a Student Pass.The following documents are required to obtain a Student Pass:
- The original copy of the release letter signed by the Chief Executive Officer of your last institution of study, or an original letter certifying you as a student of that institution and naming the course in which you were enrolled.
- A certified copy of your Letter of Offer from Monash University
- A certified true copy of your attendance report, and a certified true copy of your certificate of completion from your last institution of study
- A certified copies of your academic transcripts with information on the grading system* from your last institution of study. *(e.g. A = 85% - 100%, etc)
- A certified copy of your passport (Please photocopy ALL pages)
- A certified true copy of the highest academic qualification obtained from your last institution of study, and the highest academic qualification (i.e. transcript/ results/ certificate(s)) from your home country
Student is required to accept the full offer with payment according to the given timeline by Monash University in order to secure a place.
- Students who do not commence in a particular semester may reapply to enrol in the following semester. This will necessitate a re-application to the Malaysian Immigration Department.
- Please note that the Malaysian government regulations dictate that
International Students can undertake internship in Malaysia only if it
is part of their course requirement.
- Please take note that effective 1 December 2008, International
Students are required undergo mandatory health examination as a
condition to study in Malaysia, as directed by Malaysian Ministry of
Higher Education.
