Message from Head of School

Welcome to the School of Information Technology at Monash University Malaysia!

The School of Information Technology is an integral part of the Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University, which is consistently ranked in top 100 universities by all ranking agencies[1]. The School offers a 3-year Bachelor of Computer Science programme, as well as Bachelor of Computer Science in Data Science, and a 1-year Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) programme. Furthermore, a 4-year Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) programme is jointly offered with the School of Engineering. A coursework postgraduate programme, Master of Business Information Systems, is also offered catering to combine the Business world with IT. Other than these, the research focused Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy programmes are available for those who are keen on research and development. All our degree programmes are accredited by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and the coursework programmes are accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) is accredited also by Engineers Australia (EA).

The Monash program differentiates itself not only by emphasising the fundamentals but also by stressing on practical skills and experience. Our strong links with industries mean that industry based learning opportunities can take on an international significance. Industry experience is a key component embedded in our degree programmes that prepare the students to serve the world better.

The School is committed to innovating technologies that benefit the society, and research themes cover areas such as Artificial intelligence, Data science, Cyber security, Digital health, and Software engineering, etc. and staff have developed strong collaboration with colleagues in the Faculty of IT in Monash Australia and industry partners.
