Wee Chan Au is a Lecturer in the Department of Management. Her research interest lies in work and wellbeing (work-life balance specifically), organizational and HR practices in facilitating work and wellbeing. She has published her research work in international journals and presented in international conferences. She has been involved in several empirical studies about work and wellbeing of working adults, migrant domestic workers, women entrepreneurs and academics. She has received funding from the British Council and Academy of Science Malaysia (2018), and most recently, the Ministry of Higher education (2019) to investigate work, health and wellbeing issues in Malaysia. She has also been actively involved in regional, national and industry related projects commissioned by Economic Planning Unit (under the Prime Minister’s Office) Malaysia (2014-2016), Malaysian Plastics and Machinery Association (MPMA) (2016), Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) Australia (2016-2020), and The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) (2018).

She is the pioneer member in developing the research pathway for Master in International Business (MIB) in Malaysia campus. Together with a colleague from the Melbourne campus and senior academic members in Malaysia campus, she developed the research infrastructure and assessment procedure for the MIB research pathway, an alternate route to master degree in coursework. Recognising the importance of social entrepreneurship in creating positive change in society at large, she developed a new module on Social Entrepreneurship (3rd-year level) in 2016. During the process of developing learning materials, she identified the issue of lack of social entrepreneurship case studies from the local and regional perspective, which motivated her to start collecting stories of social entrepreneurship in Malaysia and Southeast Asia context.

Prior to academic career, she worked as project executive in a government agency under the Ministry of Primary Industries (formerly known as Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities), Malaysia, during which she had organized international trade missions (to/from Japan; to China) and Malaysian Pavilion in various international trade exhibitions (China, Japan, and Germany), as well as national seminars
