Priya Sharma obtained the Bachelor of Law (LL.B) from the University of London in 1994 and the Certificate in Legal Practice in 1995. She was admitted to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor from the High Court of Malaya in 1996. After two years of practice in the corporate and conveyancing sector, she ventured into the academic field. She completed the LLM (Masters in Law) in 2001 at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur and joined HELP University College as a lecturer at law. Whilst in HELP University College, Priya Sharma specialized in areas of International Business Law, Finance and Banking law, Employment Law and Industrial Relations at the undergraduate level.

Priya Sharma left HELP University College in 2009 and joined Monash University Malaysia as a Sessional Lecturer/Tutor in a variety of subjects ranging from Malaysian/Australian Business Law, Comparative Workplace Relations Law, International Trade Law, Current Issues in Corporate Governance and Management Ethics and Corporate Governance. She completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Business and Commerce from Monash University Malaysia in 2010 as a route toward a PhD. Her thesis is titled “The Exploitation Of Children For Labour: - The Malaysian Legislative Framework”. She has presented two (2) conference papers thus far, the first is titled ‘Exploitation Of Children For Labour :- CSR And The Law In Malaysia’ of which she presented at LAWASIA’s 23rd conference in Delhi from 11th-14th November 2010 and the second is titled ‘Exploitation of Children For Labour :- A comparative Analysis Between The International Framework & The Malaysian Legislative of which she presented at the 4th Children & the Law conference organized by LAWASIA in Siem Reap, Cambodia from the 27th -29th May 2011.
