Dr. Poon Wai Ching is Associate Professor of Economics at Monash University, Malaysia (MUM). She has 18 years of teaching and research experience. She has been visiting several institutions including the Helsinki School of Business (Finland), University of Queensland (Australia), Deakin University (Australia), Soka University (Japan), and Monash University (Australia). She has published extensively on a number of issues in the field of applied economics, consumer and psychology economics, and financial services. Topics of interest in recent years include predictability of economic growth, housing affordability, and decision making.

Wai Ching has published widely with more than 50 articles in international refereed journals such as the Pacific Basin Finance Journal, Energy Economics, Applied Ergonomics, among others. She is an author of a text-book: Malaysian Economy (3rd edition) and a few monograph chapters, and module writer. She has received numerous scholarly awards for both teaching and research excellence. She serves in Editorial Review Board for Corporate Governance: An International Review (CGIR) (since 2009), and Management and Organization Review (MOR), and serving Journal of Contemporary Issues and Thoughts as Editorial Advisory Board. She is a recipient of 7 government grants in Malaysia (from the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, and Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation Malaysia), and two grant awards in Japan (from Research Institute of Humanity and Nature). She taught Business Economics, Managerial Economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Trade, Finance and Foreign Exchange, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Besides teaching and research, Wai Ching has been actively serving the business communities. She has helped organized academic conferences, and served as scientific committees in some international conferences. She has also been invited by the Malaysia Commission and Competition to be the Panel of Research Grants Experts to review research grant. She has also been invited to be the examiner for Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia, and external moderator in private university in Malaysia. She has been invited to be an external examiner for DBA thesis and MBA dissertation both internationally and nationally. She is occasionally invited to give seminar speeches in national universities and high school.
