Personal statement

Dr. Estee received her BEng from University of Sheffield, UK and PhD degree from Naitonal University of Singapore. Her PhD research revolved in the area of material synthesis and catalysis. Her current research interests are Direct Carbon Fuel Cell and Dialysis. The project was funded by Ministry of Education. Dr. Estee is currently supervising one PhD student and one Master student. She has supervised one PhD student and three Master students to completion.

Research Projects

Title: Electricity generation from direct carbon fuel cell

Direct carbon fuel cell (DCFC) can achieve almost 100 % theoretical efficiency.  Our research team studies the feasibility of biomass waste to be used as DCFC fuel. Waste in its raw state does not possess suitable chemical and physical properties for fueling DCFC. For this purpose, pretreatment such as pyrolysis and acid pretreatment are essential prior to the electrochemical performance testing of the waste.
