Nanotechnology deals with engineering at the nanoscale with a view to creating applications/ devices at the atomic, molecular, or supramolecular scale. The applications are diverse, including medicine, electronics, biomaterials, and energy production.
The School of Engineering seeks to contribute to this important area in the following sub-themes:
Nanostructured materials are materials configured with dimensions typically in the range of 1 to 100 nm.
At the School of Engineering, the nanostructured materials research is focused mainly on functionalized nanomaterials, fundamental nanomechanical behaviours, nanotubes, nanocrystalline cellulose, nano-scale characterization and green nano-scale materials and the applications of nanomaterials in energy, electronics, biotechnology, and automobile industries.
