Loan Laptop (Applicable for Work From Home Policy Only)

ScopeIT Asset
PurposeTo temporarily provide a loan laptop for staff who has to work from home.
EligibilityStaff does not have a Monash laptop assigned to him / her.
Require to work from home for a certain period


Staff may submit the request via IT Service Request Portal and required to be approved by Head of Unit / School Manager.

Staff may collect and return the loan laptop at :

ITS Service Desk, Building 9 Level 5
Monday – Friday
8:00am – 6:00pm (Semester)
8:30am – 5:30pm (Semester Break)

256GB SSD  / 500GB SSD
Windows 10 or above
Default pre-installed software
- Sophos
- CheckPoint VPN
- Jaber Softphone
- Panopto
Laptop does not come with the Monash Standard Operating Environment (SoE); which means the device may not have all standard Monash software pre-installed on it.

Software and access information

Office productivity software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
Software available on BYOD / loan device for staff
Access to Shared drive
Jaber Softphone guide
Panopto user guide

Note : Printing to Monash printers from home is not supported

Staff ResponsibilityUsage of loan laptop is subject to the standard usage of IT Asset.
 IT Use – Staff and Other Authorized Users business Rule
Damage and Loss
1) ​​IT asset damage or loss needs to be reported to ITS by filling-up an online form in the IT Service Request System.
2) If the asset is loss, the staff need to provide a police report if the asset is stolen outside of the campus or a report from Campus Security if the asset is missing inside of the campus.
3) ​This report need to be attached in the online form​ when submitting the report to ITS.​​​
