Profile Summary

Dr Amudha Kadirvelu is a pharmacologist with clinical background. After completing her MBBS in India, she pursued her doctorate in University of Malaya. Her PhD focused on the clinical physiology and pharmacology of vascular function in health and disease. Her research takes a multi-disciplinary approach to the understanding of pathophysiology and management of cardiovascular diseases. Her research interests include medical education, ethnic variations in cardiovascular drug responses and chronic disease management.

Dr Amudha was employed by Monash University Malaysia-School of Medicine in its inception stages and since, has made exceptional and sustained service contributions including a leading role in securing Australian Medical Council and Malaysian Medical Council accreditation for the Monash Malaysia MBBS program. She is currently the Deputy Head of Medical School (Education).

Dr Amudha has more than 10 years of teaching experience at the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia. Her teaching philosophy is based on pragmatic pedagogy that is strongly characterized by integrating theory with an applied approach to management of a patient in a real-world situation. Dr Amudha has been recognized with the Dean’s award for excellence in education for quality of teaching, Teaching Excellence Award by the Faculty of Pharmacy and 3 PVC’s awards for her innovations and contributions to student learning.
