Profile Summary

Dr Devi Mohan is an Associate Professor in Global Public Health at the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She is a public health physician and epidemiologist with MBBS and MD in Community Medicine. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education.  Dr Devi coordinates public health modules in the medical program and teaches research methodology and biostatistics for other graduate and postgraduate programs. She is the coordinator for PhD Public Health Programme in the School.

Dr Devi Mohan is a public health researcher with a particular interest and expertise in ageing. Her area of research is geriatric neuroepidemiology, focussing on the prevention and care of dementia in low and middle-income countries. Her work has been published in a top tier public health and dementia journals, including Lancet Global Health, Journal of Alzheimer's Diseases and Value in Health. She leads various community-based dementia projects in Malaysia in collaboration with South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO).  She is a member of the NIHR Global Health Group on Dementia Prevention and Enhanced Care (DePEC), which aims to develop dementia risk reduction approaches and sustainable dementia care pathways. Dr Devi works extensively with international collaborators from the UK, India and Malaysia, and the Ministry of Health, Malaysia, on projects related to ageing and dementia. She is also a member of the Global Dementia Prevention Programme, Monash Dementia Network and Malaysian Global Health Consortium.

Before joining Monash, Dr Devi Mohan was an Assistant Professor of Community Medicine in India and has guided many medical graduate research projects on public health. She has also worked as a primary care physician in the Ministry of Health in India. She is a registered medical practitioner of the Indian Medical Council, a member of the Indian Medical Association and the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine.  She has also worked actively in the evaluation and training of various national health programs in India.
