Community Use Rule: Loan Privileges
Purpose
Library users are eligible to borrow library materials in the collections housed at the Library and Learning Commons and Clinical School Library. The loan privileges describe the borrowing rights and conditions associated with the category of users and/or type of materials.
Definitions
Open Shelf Collection: Main collection covering a wide variety of subject areas to support Monash Malaysia’s education and research priorities.
Multimedia Collection: videocassettes, DVDs, VCDs and educational CD-ROMs
Bound Serials Collection: Past issues of print journals and magazines.
Rules
Open Shelf Collection
Staff and graduate students may borrow a maximum of 20 books for 30 days.
Undergraduate students may borrow a maximum of 10 books for 14 days.
Reciprocal members (staff) may borrow a maximum of 5 books for 30 days.
Reciprocal members (students) may borrow a maximum of 5 books for 14 days.
Alumni library members may borrow a maximum of 2 books for 14 days.
Late return of Open Shelf materials will incur a fine of RM1.00 per item per day.
Late return of 4-hours loan items will incur a fine of RM0.20 per hour per item.
Late return of 3 day-loan items will incur a fine of RM1.00 per item per day.
Late return of 7 day-loan items will incur a fine of RM1.00 per item per day.
Multimedia Collections
The loan period for multimedia items may vary from 4 hours to 3 days.
Late return of 4-hours loan items will incur a fine of RM0.20 per hour per item.
Late return of 3 day-loan items will incur a fine of RM1.00 per item per day.
Bound Serials Collection
The loan period for bound serials is 1 week.
Late return of bound serials will incur a fine of RM1.00 per item per day.
Intercampus Loan
Library users at Monash University Malaysia Sunway campus can request books from the Open Shelf collection housed at the Clinical School Library and vice versa through Search. Once the book is ready for collection, users will be notified to collect it at the home library.
Late return of books will incur a fine of RM1.00 per item per day.
