Update on LLC’s space transformation

Following my last communication on 19 December 2016, I am pleased to share some exciting developments about the transformation of the Library and Learning Commons.

  • LLC Training Room

The refurbishment of LLC Training Room is almost complete. We are expecting the delivery of the study tables on 7 March followed by wiring/cabling work which should be completed by 12 March 2017. At this stage, we anticipate the re-opening of LLC training room on Tuesday, 14 March 2017.

Upon completion, the Library Training room will offer a much expanded area and improved learning space, with 42 new desktop PCs, three LCD projectors and ample writing surfaces.

  • LLC designated laptop zones

As previously advised, we have re-purposed two existing learning spaces, respectively the area looking onto the plenary landscape, and another area located near the Information Services counter to create two bespoke laptop zones. As a result of unexpected delays with the contractors, the renovation work is now due to start in the next coming days. We anticipate that the refurbishment will be completed by Sunday, 25 March 2017.

Both the expansion of the training room and the creation of the laptop-only zones will provide Monash students with increased seating and better access to computing facilities within the Library. In total, a combination of 220 laptops/desktops will be available in the Library and Learning Commons.

In view of the above, the Learning Skills Office has been relocated to Level 2 of the Library together with the Liaison Librarians. Check the library website to locate your Liaison Librarian  or Learning Skills Adviser.
