Lisa Smith's talk on "Smart Libraries and MOOCs"
On 10 May 2016, the Library and Learning Commons sponsored a presentation by Lisa Smith, Director, Education at Monash University Australia on “Smart Libraries, Smart Users, Smarter Societies: How Monash University Library is building staff and learner capability through skill development and MOOCs”.
Lisa talked about the broad approach to building capability and staff and learner skill development taken by Monash University Library. In addition Lisa focused on the Library's engagement with University MOOC development and how the Library has built staff and learner capability through our involvement in this strategic initiative.
Lisa Smith is the Director, Education at Monash University Library. Her portfolio includes oversight of the Library’s engagement with University education strategies, including MOOCs, through skills development, blended and e-learning, with a number of faculty areas, and broad oversight of several branch libraries. Lisa is also the University Copyright Compliance Officer. Lisa’s previous roles at Monash University include branch library manager and subject librarian, as part of which she worked closely with students on their development of information research skills and graduate attributes through curriculum initiatives. Her published articles and presentations cover a range of topics including libraries and resources, skills development, e-learning and legal research.
