Three scholars from the School of Business, Monash University Malaysia, were recently awarded with the KPMG ASEAN Scholarships.

Datuk Johan Idris, Managing Partner of KPMG, presented the award to these bright young students at the KPMG ASEAN Scholarship Program Awards Ceremony 2016 held in KPMG Tower.

Selected from more than 1,500 candidates nationwide, Tan Li Anne, Bhavan Sarpal and Lakshman Palani were among the six scholars to receive the award. The winners were picked through a challenging and competitive selection process.

“We believe that life is not only about your career and education background. Exceptional personalities inspire their environment and peers whether on or off-campus. This scholarship program is created to support students who stand out from the crowd, in terms of their outstanding academic and  non-academic  achievements as well as their strong desires to succeed in life,” said Adrian Lee, Head of People, Performance & Culture of KPMG in Malaysia.

Tan, Bhavan and Lakshman will have the opportunity to join the internship program and work placement at any of KPMG’s ASEAN member offices located in Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. The program will undoubtedly provide excellent opportunities for learning and development as well as regional  career  exposure to the three Monash Bachelor of Business and Commerce students.

About the Scholarship

KPMG is a global network of professional firms providing audit, tax and advisory services. It is a strong international network of firms and takes a leadership role in globalising businesses. With this belief, KPMG in Malaysia, together with three other member firms in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand, established a regional scholarship program which gives the chosen scholars the opportunity to experience working in different countries in the ASEAN region during their internship period and a two-year working opportunity upon graduation.

The scholarship selection period is conducted on an annual basis for first or second year undergraduates studying in local tertiary institutions pursuing Accounting and Finance degrees. Other related degrees may also be considered. Do look out for the next application opportunity in February 2017.
