Kate Lee

Class of 2013

Clinical Pharmacist, Pantai Hospital Bangsar

Lee started as a Provisionally Registered Pharmacist (PRP) at Pantai Hospital Bangsar, during which she had the opportunity to be rotated to all departments in the hospital. Upon completion of her PRP, she moved on to Cytotoxic Drug Reconstitution (CDR), which deals with preparation of the chemo drug, at the same hospital.

“Clinical is a new role in private hospitals. Part of what we do is go to wards and look through patient’s medical profile, monitor any drug interaction and provide some assistance to the doctors. I love what I’m doing right now because they have given me quite a lot of opportunities,” she said.

She advised aspiring pharmacists to have heart, initiative and don’t wait to be spoon-fed. “Always ask questions”, she added.

Vincent Wong

Class of 2013

Outpatient Pharmacist, Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan, Kuantan

“Doing my PRP in Kuantan, one of the biggest challenges was the commute back and forth KL and Kuantan. Thankfully, the people are nice and I managed to make new friends. My Bahasa Melayu have definitely improved. This has subsequently made it easier for me to interact with patients and understand their needs better.
