Monash University Malaysia and Sungai Klang Link forge strategic partnership
This partnership of these two organisations seeks to build relationships and explore potential opportunities, particularly in research on artificial intelligence in the construction of smart highways.
On 14 March 2025, Monash University Malaysia and Sungai Klang Link (SKL) Sdn Bhd took a major step toward collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement marks the beginning of a strategic alliance between the two institutions, aimed at collaborative research, student internships, and innovative initiatives, particularly focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) applications in smart highway infrastructure.
SKL, a subsidiary of Propadu Holdings, has been entrusted with the development of the Sungai Klang Link Highway, one of Malaysia’s most critical infrastructure projects, which is slated to begin this year.
The MoU outlines several key objectives for future collaboration, which include joint research projects, student internships, and other mutually beneficial initiatives to be developed over time. This partnership serves as a powerful catalyst for both institutions to come together, exchange knowledge, and drive forward the development of innovative solutions, particularly in the field of AI and smart infrastructure. The MoU was formally signed by Professor Anthony Guo, Head of the School of Engineering and Information Technology at Monash University Malaysia, and Dato Haji Mohd Nazri, Managing Director of SKL. The signing ceremony was a momentous occasion, attended by key representatives from both organisations, as well as distinguished guests from MDT Korea, underscoring the international significance of this partnership. The event was expertly chaired by Associate Professor Wong Wai Peng, from the School of Information Technology, highlighting the importance of academic leadership in forging such strategic collaborations.
