Dr. Usha Sundralingam obtained her undergraduate degree in Pure Chemistry (B.HONS) from University Science Malaysia (2007) and a master’s degree (M.Sc, Drug Delivery) from The School of Pharmacy, University College London (UCL) (2009), UK. Thereafter, she began her research career in UCL as a Peadiatric formulation research assistant for 1.5 years before moving back to Malaysia in 2011. Subsequently she started her PhD at JCSMHS Monash University Malaysia looking into the development of a transdermal drug delivery system (Transfersome) for the treatment of breast cancer using ratite oils. Following that, she joined the Faculty of Medicine, SEGi University Malaysia as a Chemistry lecturer for the Bachelor in Biomedical Sciences in November 2016.  During her tenure in SEGi she has supervised 4 undergraduate students in collaboration with Monash University Malaysia. She joined School of Pharmacy, Monash University Malaysia in January 2020. Her research interest is on the development of nanocarriers for drug delivery, particularly for topical and transdermal applications, and also natural products. Dr. Usha has a keen interest in the skin permeation and lipid formulations of bioactives/natural compounds using very specific skin models such as animal skin and synthetic membranes.
