Dr. Khaw Kooi Yeong
Kooi-Yeong joined School of Pharmacy, Monash Malaysia as Assistant Lecturer in 2019. He obtained his PhD from School of Pharmacy, The University of Queensland. His PhD research focused on the discovery of chemotherapy molecules from natural product for skin cancer. He is expert in supercritical carbon-dioxide technology as a targeted extraction means for the extraction of bioactive compounds, cell culture studies, and metabolomics focused liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Prior to further his PhD degree, he worked as a research officer at Centre for Herbal Standardization and received his Master of Science (Pharmacology) at Universiti Sains Malaysia. In addition, he was awarded a RHD student candidate development award to work within a pharmaceutical laboratory in Europe and Taiwan International Graduate Program as a research intern at Academia Sinica, Taiwan. Kooi-Yeong research interests are drug discovery, supercritical carbon dioxide extraction and secondary metabolite profiling of indigenous plants by LC-MS. His long-term career goal is to discover a cost-effective and efficacy drug to improve quality of life of human beings.
