Best Poster Award in 12th European Workshop in Drug Design

School of Pharmacy is pleased to share the outstanding achievement of Shafi Ullah Khan in 12th European Workshop in Drug Design (XII EWDD) held on May 19 to 24, 2019 in Certosa Di Pontignano Siena, Italy.

Shafi’s research work entitled “In silico screening of G protein-coupled estrogen receptor-1 (GPER-1) Inhibitors: Integration of three-dimensional ligand and homology model-based virtual screening” was awarded the Best Poster Presentation award in XII EWDD, which was judged by a selected panel of experts in the field of drug designing and discovery. Shafi got1st position out of total 72 presenters from across the globe not limited to Italy, Austria, Germany, USA, UK, Israel.

He was also awarded the MEDCHEM POSTER PRIZE for this achievement. Shafi was also honoured to present a shotgun oral presentation of his research work. European Workshop in Drug Design was a UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY for graduate students, postdocs and scientists from both Academia and Pharma Industry to celebrate computer-aided drug design and discovery in an EXCITING and COLLABORATIVE environment. Currently, Shafi Ullah is a PhD student in the School of Pharmacy under the supervision of Dr. Thet Thet Htar and co-supervision of Dr. Nafees Ahemad, Dr Alice Chuah and Dr. Rakesh Naidu. Shafi’s research focused on the identification of new GPER-1 modulators to fight breast cancer using both Insilco and in-vitro approaches.
