Understanding the gender dimensions of migration
SASS researchers Nadia Ahmad, Yvonne Khor Gee Weon and Sharmini Ann Nathan have been working with Dr Yeoh Seng Guan, Associate Professor in Social Anthropology, to answer questions pertaining to gender inequalities, decision-making and perceptions, as well as the role of intermediaries in facilitating labour migration. Their research work is part of a project on South-South migration in collaboration with Migration for Development and Equality (MIDEQ), a global network of research institutions based in 12 countries in the Global South region.
Nadiah is tasked with examining the gender dimensions of Nepali migrant work, while Dr Yeoh leads the Malaysia end of the Nepal- Malaysia corridor project.
