Malaysia’s transgender community trapped by toxic religious ideals

Dr Joseph N. Goh, a Senior Lecturer in Gender Studies was interviewed by Southeast Asia Globe on his views on the efforts of some Malaysian human rights activists to advocate for the introduction of a third-gender status in legislation, which could potentially provide security and protection for transgender and non-binary persons in Malaysia. Goh was also asked for his opinion on conversion therapy, or pseudo-scientific measures to change a person's sexual orientation.
