Sweet Escape at Monash!

The School of Science organised a “Sweet Escape” candy-making workshop for 44 pre-university students from Sunway University, Methodist College Kuala Lumpur, SMK Seafield, SMK Batu Lapan and Taylor’s University. The students learned about the chemistry and sensory evaluation of the candy as well as food packaging and nutritional labelling. They also had the opportunity to try their hands at making crystalline and non-crystalline lollipops and evaluated them using two of their senses (eye and tongue). 


To wrap things up, the students also had to tap into their creative juices to design primary and secondary packaging for the prepared lollipops together with the appropriate nutritional information.
