On August 5th and 6th, Monash University Malaysia School of Science proudly hosted the prestigious MIFT 13th National Food Science and Technology Competition. The biennial event was organised by the Malaysian Institute of Food Technology (MIFT) and supported by the Ministry of Higher Education. We witnessed a remarkable gathering of talent, with 15 universities across Malaysia and more than 389 participants converging at our campus for this exciting occasion.
The competition featured 6 different categories:
- Postgraduate Research Paper (Poster) - Food Science Category
- Postgraduate Research Paper (Poster) - Food Technology Category
- Postgraduate Research Paper (Oral)
- Oratory Competition
- Food Bowl Quiz Competition
- Innovative Food Product Development Competition
We were honoured to witness outstanding presentations and performances from the participants. Each of them showcased intellect and innovation that will define the future of food science and technology.
The event featured a talk on “Empowerment of Food Scientists and Technologists in Malaysia: Updates and Challenges” by Dr. Koh Yew Ming, President of the Malaysian Institute of Food Technology (MIFT) and a forum on “Food Sustainability: From Farm to Fork”, chaired by Dato Dr. Mohd Nazlee Kamal, member of the Monash University Malaysia Food Science and Technology Industry Advisory Group and 4 industry speakers.
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our students, who demonstrated exceptional capabilities and dedication in the national competitions.
