Associate Professor Emily Goh joined Monash University Malaysia in July 2005 after receiving a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Chemistry and PhD in Electroanalytical Chemistry from the University Putra Malaysia. She is currently the Head of School. She completed the Graduate Certificate of Higher Education in 2013. Her research interests include the isolation and purification of bioactive compounds from Malaysian medicinal plants, synthesis of bioactive compounds and the development of chemical sensors for the application in food, environment and pharmaceutical industries.  Currently, she is working on the synthesis of imidazo naphthyridine derivatives as drugs for congestive heart failure and the fabrication of chemical sensors using electrochemical methods to detect the presence of antioxidants.

Her contributions to science have a broader interest.  For example, she served on the International organising committee of Asian Conferences on Engineering and Natural Sciences in 2015 and 2016 organized by Higher Education Forum (HEF) of Taiwan, chaired the life science session in the 2014 International Conference on Engineering and Applied Science in Sapporo (Japan), she was a member of the organising committee of International Symposium on Women in Science and Engineering and OWSD Young Women Scientists 2011 Award Ceremony (WISE 2011) organised by the Malaysian Institute of Chemist and was Secretary for the Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry Section, Malaysian Institute of Chemist from 2008 to 2013.

Research Interests

Natural product chemistry such as identifying bioactive compounds from medicinal plants and synthesis of bioactive compounds. Others include development of chemical sensors and biosensors using electroanalytical techniques.
