Dr Yeong Keng Yoon graduated with a PhD from Universiti Sains Malaysia specialising in medicinal chemistry. Over 20 original research and review papers were published in the area drug design and discovery, covering various diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, and tuberculosis. Before joining Monash University Malaysia as a lecturer in the School of Science, Dr Yeong spent 5 years as a research scientist for a local biotech startup and the next 6 years as a senior research scientist with Romer Labs, a multinational food diagnostic company. In both companies, he work on small molecule chemical modification, bioconjugation as well as antibody and immunoassay development.

Dr Yeong's primary research interests includes organic synthesis of novel small molecules targeting age-related diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer’s. Also of interest is the modification of natural products for bioactivity as well as novel fluorescent drug molecules with theranostic applications. His current research projects revolve around designing sirtuin modulators, multi-target directed ligand inhibitors for Alzheimer’s disease and telomerase inhibitors for cancer therapy.
