Why did you choose to study [your degree/area of study?

Ever since I have discovered programming, I love making and tinkering with software and applications. I enjoy making my own automation programs, websites, and games. To further improve my skill set, to solidify the basics of programming, and to venture further into different fields related to IT, I decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree in computer science. I chose the data science major as the world is further developing into areas of Big Data, hence, I see a future and need for data scientists.

Why did you choose to study at Monash, and has it met your expectations so far?
I have decided to choose Monash for it’s international recognition as a credible university and being one of the top 50 universities in the world. Furthermore, I recognize graduating in Monash to be a intriguing en-devour that I could not pass on.

While at Monash, what type of opportunities did you participate in? (E.g. student exchange, clubs and societies, field trips, conferences, competitions, etc.)
I joined the Monash E-Sports Club committee and joined several other clubs as a member such as the volleyball, chess, and badminton club.

While at Monash, did you go for any internships or work placements? If so, where? And did the experience help you in terms of career preparation/what have you learned?
I went for a 3-month internship program at PETRONAS Digital Sdn Bhd as part of the cyber security team. It has opened up my view on the opportunities in cyber security and I have further developed my skill set in the field. Resulting the internship, I have achieved a clear career path after graduation.

What do you enjoy most about your student life at Monash? What is your biggest career goal, or what is the difference you’d like to make?
What I most enjoy about student life at Monash is the student community. There are countless clubs, communities, and societies to join covering various interest groups. The learning spaces and discussions room allows students to fully immerse in eduction yet still allowing room for social activities. Another addition would be the location of the University is optimal since it is accessible to various activities and places of interest for students.

My biggest career goal is to improve the world. This can mean a lot of things. To me, I want to improve the quality of life for the less fortunate, increase cyber security awareness to prevent malicious actors benefiting from victims, and to fully explore the world of IT and its future capabilities.
