Message from Head of School

Welcome to the School of Information Technology at Monash University Malaysia!

The School of Information Technology is an integral part of the Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University, which is consistently ranked in the top 100 universities in the world by all the four ranking agencies [1]. The School offers a 3-year Bachelor of Computer Science program, Bachelor of Computer in Artificial Intelligence program, as well as Bachelor of Computer Science in Data Science, and a 1-year Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) program. Furthermore, a 4-year Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) program is jointly offered with the School of Engineering. The School also offers a suite of postgraduate coursework programs, namely the Master of Business Information Systems, Master of Artificial Intelligence, and Master of Data Science, to meet strong market demand from professionals across all business and technology sectors. Other than these, the research-focused Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy programs are available for those who are keen on research and development. The high quality of the programs is underpinned by the undifferentiated degree and the same academic quality management system as in the Faculty of IT. In addition, all our degree programs are accredited by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and the coursework programs are accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) is also accredited by Engineers Australia (EA).

The Monash program differentiates itself not only by emphasising the fundamentals but also by stressing practical skills and experience. Our strong links with industries mean that industry-based learning opportunities can take on an international significance. Industry experience is a key component embedded in our degree programs that prepares our students to serve the world better.

The School is committed to innovating technologies that benefit society, and research themes cover areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cyber Security, Digital Health, and Software Engineering, etc., and staff have developed strong collaborations with colleagues in the Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University, Australia and industry partners.
