MonashRISE: ECAN Research Colloquium
[SERIES 1] MonashRISE: MUM ECAN Research Colloquium 2026
The MonashRISE: MUM ECAN Colloquium 2026, fully organised by Monash University Malaysia, is designed as a strategic development platform to strengthen Early Career Academics’ (ECAs) capacity and confidence in navigating their research journeys. The event connects ECAs across disciplines, fosters collaboration with senior researchers and external partners, and creates pathways for research impact aligned with institutional priorities.
The colloquium brings together academics from Monash University Malaysia, alongside our guest academics from Sunway University and Taylor’s University, to foster meaningful research collaboration and support the development of early-stage research ideas into funded initiatives.
Participants from Series 1 will have the opportunity to continue into Series 2, which focuses on proposal development and grant readiness. The colloquium also introduces seed funding to support promising collaborative projects, strengthen cross-institutional research engagement, and encourage future external funding applications.

[SERIES 2] MonashRISE: MUM ECAN Research Colloquium 2026
The MonashRISE: MUM ECAN Research Colloquium 2026 (Series 2) is designed to support Early Career Academics and Researchers in transforming collaborative research ideas into competitive, funder-ready proposals for external grant applications. Building on the momentum of Series 1, this session focuses on strengthening participants’ capabilities in proposal development, strategic research planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and alignment with external funding priorities.
Through proposal clinics, expert mentoring, and structured pitching sessions, participants will refine their research concepts, identify suitable external funding opportunities, and enhance the overall competitiveness of their proposals.
While this event is fully organised by Monash University Malaysia, Series 2 will also bring together researchers from our campus alongside guest universities from Sunway University and Taylor’s University. The program provides a platform to foster cross-institutional collaboration, receive expert feedback on the quality, direction, and feasibility of research proposals, and develop interdisciplinary projects for future submission to external funding bodies.
