Financial Information

We understand that cost is a key factor when you decide on your study abroad destination. Reasonable cost of living and affordable tuition fees are one of the many benefits you will receive if you choose to study at Monash Malaysia.

Tuition fee (Study Abroad)

If you are a study abroad student, you will pay fees to Monash Malaysia (or your home university) for the units (subjects) you study while you are at Monash. Exchange students do not need to pay additional tuition fees.

If you are paying your fees directly to Monash Malaysia, the tuition fee per semester for 2026 shall be:

Student Classification (fee-paying students)Amount* (to study up to 24 credit points)Sales and Services Tax  (SST) 6%Total Tuition Fees Payable
Undergraduate students MYR 24,960.00MYR 1,497.60MYR  26,457.60
Postgraduate students MYR 24,960.00MYR 1,497.60MYR  26,457.60

If you pay fees to your home university, it may be a different amount than described above – perhaps because your home university offers a package which may include additional items such as accommodation, excursions and transport allowance.

Please note that the above fees are subject to change. A tuition fee deposit may be requested upon your acceptance of the offer to study at Monash Malaysia as a study abroad student.

Sales and Service Tax (SST)

Following the recent gazette of the Sales and Service Tax (SST) expansion on 9 June 2025, a 6% service tax will be applied to education fees and services for non-Malaysian citizens effective 1 July 2025. This service tax is charged by and payable to the Government of Malaysia. The 6% SST applies to international students and non-Malaysian citizens enrolled at Monash University Malaysia.

The service tax will be levied on tuition fees and other education-related services (e.g., registration, general amenities) for non-citizens.

We have updated the SST info section in Monash University Malaysia’s website with a guide on how to read your Fee statement that has billings with service tax.

Student Pass and Visas

Before entering Malaysia, all international students require a Student Pass and possibly an entry visa depending on your country of origin. There are different requirements and application processes, therefore, it is important to understand the travel requirements to Malaysia.

You are required to pay the Student Pass application fee for one (1) semester or two (2) semesters in full upon accepting your exchange or study abroad offer. The fee includes the following:

  • Medical insurance for 1 semester RM 476; OR
  • Medical insurance for 2 semesters RM 884

* You are advised to be certain in accepting your exchange or study abroad offer as the Student Pass application fee is non-refundable.

** Amount stated may be subject to change each semester and are stated in the letter of offer of study.

Please ensure you are familiar with the Student Pass and Visa requirements before arriving in Malaysia.
