Global Intercampus Program
Studying at Monash Malaysia is easy
If you are a Monash student who would like to study at Monash Malaysia for a semester or two, it can be easily arranged. You will come on an intercampus exchange but remain enrolled at your home campus. All your units taken in Monash Malaysia will be listed on your academic transcript, similar to Monash Australia but the only difference will be your exchange experience in vibrant, captivating and exotic Malaysia.
You could also be eligible for the Monash Abroad Travel Scholarship if you are an Australian or South African Monash student.
What can I study?
Monash Malaysia offers a wide selection of units for you to study. While unit syllabuses are similar across all Monash campuses, you will find that Monash Malaysia offers localised units providing a unique exchange experience here.
Popular localised units that are offered at Monash Malaysia include for example, the Malaysian Studies, Contemporary Feminisms in Asia as well as Genders, sexualities and religions in Southeast Asia from the School of Arts and Social Sciences. Other interesting units include Environmental Science: A Southeast Asian Perspective offered at the School of Science as well as Leadership in Asia, Business in Asia and Islamic Business offered at the School of Business. For language enthusiasts, the Malay Language is a non-credit earning unit, ideal for those who wish to learn the local language during their exchange in Malaysia. How much will it cost?
The cost of living in Malaysia is affordable, coupled with the possibility for low-cost travel around the South East Asia region during the semester break and end of semester. Your exchange to Monash Malaysia would also not incur additional tuition fees as fees are paid to your home campus, just as they would be if you weren’t on an exchange.
However, accommodation, travel and entertainment costs are not included in your fees, therefore, you are advised to budget for these items just as you would at home. You will also need to take into consideration the cost of compulsory insurance and visas.
The Monash Abroad Travel Scholarships are also available for Monash students when planning for their exchange to Malaysia. Many externally funded bodies or governments also offer scholarships for students to study overseas. Consult the Monash Abroad office to find out what is available to you before you leave home.
