Welcome to Monash University Malaysia. Established in 1998, we are the third largest campus of Australia's largest university and the first foreign university campus in Malaysia. Monash University is a premier research-intensive Australian university ranked 36th in the QS World University Rankings 2026 and 58th in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025.

A self-accrediting university, our campus offers a distinctly international and culturally rich environment with approximately 13,800 students from 91 countries. Students are taught by highly qualified academic staff from across the world, and the same rigorous standards are applied at the campus as at other Monash campuses.

Monash University is a large, multi-campus, comprehensive, research-intensive university and a member of the Australian Group of Eight. Monash is consistently ranked in the world’s top 100 universities, reflecting our strong commitment to academic and research excellence. Monash is also a global university, with four campuses in Australia, as well as campuses in Malaysia, Indonesia, China, India and a centre in Prato, Italy.

The Academic Board of Monash University is responsible for oversight of the University's academic affairs, including the maintenance of high standards in education and research. That oversight extends to all of Monash’s campuses in Australia and other nations. Moreover, the Academic Board applies the same educational quality standards to all Monash degrees, wherever they are taught. Our graduates receive a testamur awarded by Monash University, regardless of the campus where they complete their degree. This oversight extends to Monash degrees that are offered jointly with other universities.

All Monash’s qualifications are quality assured by the Australian Government’s Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency and local equivalent accrediting bodies and regulatory agencies in locations where we operate. In Malaysia, Monash University is rated Competitive (Berdaya Saing), the highest tier in the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia's SETARA rating system, cementing our position in the very top cohort of outstanding universities in that country.

The global presence and industry partnerships

As a globally-connected university, Monash University has 140 partner universities around the world, and campuses on four continents – Australia, Asia, and Europe. Students can take advantage of international mobility schemes as part of their course.

Our priorities

The campus is committed to making a positive impact on society and improving the human condition. To this end, we have established several multidisciplinary research platforms that enable scientists in the region to work on global challenges in various areas, including the health and demographic surveillance site, the South East Asian Community Observatory (SEACO), based in our Clinical School Johor Bahru.

SEACO follows a community of 35,000 people in Johor and supports world-class research in health and well-being. They have already attracted collaborations from the Asia-Pacific region and Europe.

Vibrant campus environment

In addition to a vibrant campus experience with excellent catering facilities, food outlets, gymnasium and outdoor swimming pool, the township in which the campus is situated offers numerous shopping and leisure opportunities within walking distance. Students can also take advantage of many clubs and societies that organise exciting events, be it flea markets and competitions or cultural and music festivals.
