Why did you choose to study [your degree/area of study]?
I chose to study computer science because I like to code. I like how technology can be used to make things more efficient and accessible. I was also aware that computer science skills are widely applicable across different fields, offering a lot of opportunities for growth and exploration post-graduation.
What type of opportunities did you participate in at Monash? (E.g. student exchange,
clubs and societies, field trips, conferences, competitions, etc.)
I participated in activities like hackathons and coding competitions at Monash. But what stood out the most was my exchange semester at the Australian campus. It was an unforgettable experience where I got to learn in a new environment and get exposed to different cultures.
Did you go for any internships or work placements? If so, where and did the
experience help you in terms of career preparation?
During my time at Monash, I had the opportunity to participate in two internships during semester breaks. One was with a professional services firm as a data analyst, and the other was with a tech startup as a data scientist. These experiences were invaluable in helping me gain a better understanding of what the working world is truly like and in discovering my interests. I am grateful for the chance to gradually accumulate practical experience through these internships.
What did you enjoy most about your student life at Monash?
I enjoyed the courses I took at Monash. The lecturers were not only knowledgeable but also very supportive. I appreciated that the coursework was intellectually challenging, pushing me to expand my knowledge and skills.
What is your biggest career goal, or what is the difference you’d like to make?
I wish to continually improve my skills while working on things I'm genuinely interested in, aiming to make a meaningful impact by making people’s lives easier through my work.
