Current Role: Machine Learning Engineer at Intel Corporation

If you’re currently working, please tell us about your role in your organisation.

I’m a Machine Learning (ML) Engineer at the Manufacturing IT group within Intel Corporation. Our group supports factory equipment globally, enabling complex manufacturing processes that produce semiconductor chips. My current role is to help develop and deploy ML solutions to solve challenges faced by the factories, which is an intersection between research and industry.

Please tell us briefly about your postgraduate research at Monash (including potential real-world applications).

My postgraduate research at Monash is on applying Natural Language Processing (NLP) to Support Systems. The research is an industry-academia collaboration with Intel Corporation. Besides the outcome being applied in the real-world, we helped to identify further opportunities to pursue that could help address real-world challenges faced by the industry partner.

Why did you choose to pursue your postgraduate studies at Monash Malaysia?

I pursued my postgraduate studies at Monash Malaysia due to its dedicated and supportive supervisors, staff and peers. This gives us a safe environment to take risks and learn while achieving our objectives.

What type of opportunities did you participate in at Monash? (E.g. student exchange, clubs and societies, field trips, conferences, competitions, etc.)

(not relevant), most of my participation are focused on the industry partner side.

What did you enjoy most about your student life at Monash?

Unfortunately, most of my postgraduate student life at Monash coincides with the pandemic lockdowns. However, there are memorable virtual events organised by the faculty and student council. Friendships go beyond borders and physical barriers. 😊

What is your biggest career goal, or what is the difference you’d like to make?

My biggest career goal is to keep learning daily and apply what I’ve learnt to make a difference.
