Meet the team driving excellence in pharmacy education, research, and community engagement.
A dedicated academic and researcher, Professor Shaun Lee holds a PhD in Pharmacy. He has published extensively in high-impact journals, authored book chapters, and secured competitive research grants to advance healthcare delivery. He actively collaborates with global health organizations, pharmaceutical industries, and policymakers to address pressing challenges.
An advocate for evidence-based pharmacy education, Dr. Lee has been honored with teaching awards for his innovative approaches to training future pharmacists. Beyond academia, he serves on advisory boards and continues to shape discussions on translating scientific discoveries into real-world healthcare solutions.
Dr. Mark Cheong Wing Loong is a pharmacist, and a public health and palliative care researcher. His research focuses on improving the quality of life and relieving the suffering of people living and dying of serious illnesses, and creating equitable and compassionate systems that support everyone involved in the care of the seriously ill. Mark also has a special interest in the design of primary care services that detect, diagnose, treat, and support communicable and noncommunicable diseases within communities.
Mark holds a PhD in Public Health from Monash University and a Master of Pharmacy from the University of Strathclyde. He is currently a Visiting Scholar at the ASEAN Research Centre, Asia School of Business and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health, UK. Prior to joining academia, Mark worked in healthcare management, leading teams to design, develop, and deliver quality healthcare services in Malaysia and the APAC region.
Associate Professor Chong Chun Wie is a researcher in microbial ecology, gut microbiome science, and digital health innovation, with a passion for translating cutting-edge science into real-world healthcare solutions. A strong advocate for precision medicine and interdisciplinary research, Chong is dedicated to uncovering how microbial ecosystems influence human health particularly in multicultural populations like Southeast Asia. Using an interdisciplinary approach, he integrates systems biology and machine learning to explore microbiome-related health issues, including obesity, diabetes and Parkinson’s disease.
Chong holds a PhD in Microbial Ecology. He leads the (FUTURE) Monash Microbiome Research Centre at Monash University Malaysia. Under the centre, he oversees a multicentre study to evaluate the link between the gut microbiome and the Disorders of Gut-Brain interactions (DGBI).
Parameswari T. Perumal is the Senior School Manager of the School of Pharmacy at Monash University Malaysia, specialising in strategic planning, financial management, accreditation, and policy development. Certified as an Officer in Quality Assurance of Higher Education by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) since April 2023, she is committed to upholding academic excellence while driving operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
A results-driven and people-centred leader, Parameswari plays a pivotal role in strengthening cross-office collaboration and optimising processes that support the School’s teaching, research, and engagement goals. She also leads digital transformation initiatives to enhance data-driven decision-making and streamline administrative operations, contributing to the School’s long-term sustainability and strategic growth.
