The School of Pharmacy Gives Back to The Community: A Collaborative Effort with the Food Aid Foundation

.

The School of Pharmacy (SOP) at Monash University Malaysia strives to build a culture of compassion, prioritizing engagement in community outreach for better health. In line with that, the School of Pharmacy collaborates with the Food Aid Foundation (FAF), a non-profit governmental organization, to provide cooked meals to various welfare homes. Apart from obtaining funds to run the initiative, the team from SOP worked alongside FAF to prepare meals for the people in need.

Meal delivery to representatives from various welfare homes.

In total, 510 cooked meals were delivered to the orphanage and elderly homes, which include Rumah Amal Cahaya Tunku Ampuan Rahimah (RACTAR), Ti-Ratana Welfare Society Malaysia, PJ Caring Home, Pusat Jagaan Al-Fikrah Malaysia, and Rumah Hope.

In keeping with the effort to instill a healthy lifestyle in the community, health infographics were included in each of the meals with the aim to raise awareness among these groups. Furthermore, with permission obtained, a nutrition education program was conducted in an orphanage, Rumah Hope, to advocate healthy living among the children. The program included educational talk, interactive quizzes, and games. It is hoped that this outreach program could benefit the less privileged groups by addressing issues such as food security and good health for all. Moving forward, the School of Pharmacy will continue to disseminate knowledge, share expertise, and contribute to the betterment of the community.
